Frequently Asked Questions

As of January 2022
*You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Finding a new therapist can be a lengthy task. Here is some additional information you may need to decide if I am the right fit for you!

How do I know if we will work well together?

This is a common question that many clients have. I offer a FREE 15-minute consultation where we can meet over zoom. It is a brief amount of time but you can learn about how I practice and I can answer any questions you have about starting therapy. If you are interested in scheduling a free consult then click here.

Do you work with clients bi-weekly?

I do not work with new clients bi-weekly, mainly because of consistency. In therapy, you are sharing your story -your experiences, your feelings, and more. Consistency gets you to a place where we can track your narrative and start to identify patterns that you may want to address in your treatment goals. Usually, after 12 to 15 sessions we can discuss if bi-weekly sessions are a good option for your goals in therapy.

I have my own therapist, do you provide coaching?

Yes, I work with a number of clients nationally and globally who wish to create an ancestral practice to supplement their wellness plan. Please contact me for further details.

I do not live in California, do you accept out-of-state/out-of-the-country clients?

I am only licensed to practice psychotherapy with clients residing in California. Please google “therapy directories” for a list of therapists in your area.

This is my first time trying therapy. What do I need to know?

So glad you are taking your first step to start therapy! Here are some good things to know about the operation of therapy:

Therapy is confidential with some exceptions

  • harm to yourself or others

  • knowledge of child, elder, or dependent adult abuse

  • judge’s court order

*You will receive a form called Informed consent that outlines this in detail. We will also review this form in your first session.

  • The therapy hour is 50 minutes which is a standard practice among therapists. It allows us to transition between clients. This can be extended as needed.

  • Your payment for therapy is processed before your session.

What are your fees? Do you take insurance?

My fee per session is $225 for individuals and $275 for couples, $325 for family therapy. Group fees are unique to each group and range from $65-$95+/week. I do NOT accept insurance but I can provide you with a receipt of your sessions that you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Some HSA/FSA accounts will allow you to use the account for payment. Please check with your human resource and insurance carrier for details.

I do have limited lower fee slots based on economic needs. Contact me to be added to the waitlist.

*I only see new clients weekly.
