INTUITIVE, ARTS-BASED,
LIBERATORY PSYCHOTHERAPY
FOR BLACK, INDIGENOUS,
PEOPLE OF COLOR

A sacred space to process intergenerational wounds, historical trauma, and multigenerational loss.

Therapy reimagined for Black and Brown bodies. Ancestral psychotherapy understands that many Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA+ sit at an intersection of identities and abilities. It understands the impact of systemic oppression on multiple generations of people. Ancestral psychotherapy recognizes the resiliency required to retain cultural wisdom and traditions.

Is this for Me?

Like many of my clients, you are waking up to the realization that your life feels incomplete. There is a constant and unyielding inner critic that points out every mistake and every flaw you have. My clients talk about feeling like imposters—not good enough and unqualified.

But the “math is not mathing”

I observe people at the top of their class, leaders in their career, recognized creators, yet they feel unaccomplished and undeserving. They describe so many moments panicked and waiting for the "other shoe to drop!" Their anxiety causes them to overextend themselves to get validation from others. They put their own needs last—every time. The word "no" never is the response to helping someone out. They take on new tasks and additional work projects when they have no more time to spare. Their people-pleasing is out of control, and they often feel resentful. My clients are like you—BURNT OUT!

Live a life of your own design!

Ancestral psychotherapy is largely a process of exploration. You start to understand how past family narratives have influenced your behavior and beliefs. I encourage my clients to be curious about themselves and befriend their inner critics. We will work to find out what your inner parts want you to know so that you are an active participant in your life with healthy boundaries and secure relationships. Many of my clients find that once they have the ability to self-regulate they can give back to themselves by nurturing their dreams and goals.

“Understanding the generational and systemic impact of racism on my anxiety and depression hits differently…”

“It was not until I connected with the idea that I have been responding to lifelong intergenerational trauma that I realized this was the source of my anxiety. My life felt like it was out of my control…so I tried to suppress my feelings of panic. I was not doing well… which came with depression and hopelessness. I had to learn new skills in therapy so I could slow down my process and understand that some of my pain did not even begin with me.” —CCY
